The track was dry for Race 1, though considerably cooler than Friday, and just the hint of possible rain which in the end would stay away.
Calan made an excellent start off the line and held position through turn 1. In the frantic first lap action Max Fewtrell who was running 4th at the time left the circuit wide whilst in his own battle for position. As he entered the circuit once more he did so in front of Calan and forced him to deviate to avoid contact. In doing so he lost a number of positions and would complete lap 1 in P21.

From there however, Calan settled in to the race and demonstrated strong pace gaining a position before two cars made contact ahead enabling a further two positions to be gained and was immediately in touch with the two drivers ahead. Coming down the straight toward the incredibly fast right hand Copse corner he moved to the inside to be in a 3 wide position entering the turn. In a great move he came out in front and gained a further 2 positions in the process.
The race resumed after the safety car before it was completed behind another with Calan having gained two further positions to finish in a very solid P14. With the grid for Race 2 determined by Race 1 finishing positions, this is where he will start on Sunday with eyes firmly focused on a top 10 points finish.
