Another strong race for Calan today at Spa.
Starting P21 after some misfortune in qualifying, Calan got away well from the line picking up a position and then gaining another on the first lap through turn 7. An error by Fittipaldi ahead caused a puncture which gifted Calan a further place although it did cause a scarey moment as he passed him through Eau Rouge in the process of the tyre letting go.
As the race progressed it was a matter of pushing to gain positions whilst also managing the degredation of the tyre which was expected to be significant at the rear.
Calan overtook Das, Fraga and finally Malvestiti, all at the end of the Kemmel straight. On the final lap he was right on the tail of ?? ahead who only just beat him across the line. Ultimately Calan finished the race in 16th place with another solid performance that has seen him gain positions in every race he has finished this year aprart from Race 1 in Barcelona where he held position.
Calan will start Race 2 tomorrow morning from P16 on the grid with sights set on a finish in the points.
