Having made a strong start off the line in Race 2, Calan was in the process of gaining positions into turn 1.
Unfortunately a reckless move across the track to the left by Dennis Hauger cost Calan his front wing as the Red Bull driver made contact to it with his left rear. Calan was forced to pit for a nose change whilst Hauger could continue, however he was later penalised for the incident.
His race effectively over, Calan set about proving a point and set the 3rd fastest lap time of the race, whilst consistently being the quickest on circuit throughout the race as the tyres degraded.
"Obviously the incident at the start was disappointing, however the fortune will turn our way, and I demonstrated the pace that we had and I look forward to taking that into Monza next week", said Calan.
Action at Monza starts next Friday with practice and qualifying ahead of racing on the weekend.
