Calan Williams and Niklas Krutten have raced to Gold Class victory in Race 2 of the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup round in Misano.
After qualifying P2 in Gold Class and P13 overall Calan Williams started the race in the record breaking 41 car field.
Getting away well off the line Calan had pace straight away and would quickly move to P12. He then got into a great battle with Timur Boguslavskiy in the outright race winning Mercedes from Race 1.
After a number of attempts Calan could not find a way through, however they both proessed through other positions and Calan would move up to P1 in Gold and P10 overall immediately prior to the pitstop window opening for driver changes.
Staying out for one more lap than the following Gold cars, Calan executed a quick in lap ahead of heading in for the driver change.
A sticking seatbelt cost time in the driver change for Calan and Niklas, but fortunately they retained the Gold class lead despite dropping to P16 overall.
A strong drive from Niklas then moved them up to P12 for the finish and a comfortable win for Gold class.
This result now means Calan and Niklas are both leading the Gold Sprint Cup and the overal GT World Challenge Gold Standings.
