Round 3 of the 2024 GT World Challenge Sprint Championship is taking place at the Hockenheim circuit in Germany.
After two strong days of practice, Calan Williams, co-driver Sam De Haan and team WRT were greeted by a fine, warm day with temperatures around 30 degrees (c).
Calan was behind the wheel for Qualifying 1 to determined the starting position for Race 1 and delivered an outstanding 1:38.1 to tke P2 in class and P12 overall as the highest finishing BMW.
Starting Race 1, Calan got away to a great start making up two positions to finish lap 1 in P10 overall, still P2 in class.
Through a very strong stint Calan then aggresivly made his way up to P5 overall and pushed longer in the stint to attempt to gain further positions through the overcut.
When eventually coming in, team WRT as always performed an exceptionally quick pit stop, and when Sam De Haan emerged in the car back on the circuit they had successfully gained another position on track to be P4 overall and leading the Silver class.
Sam delivered a very good drive, defending the lead for a number of laps before finally succumbing to the Ferrari with around 12 minutes to go.
From there Sam brought the car home with good pace to finish P5 overall, and another podium finish for the pair in P2 for class.
