After what has seemed like a really long wait, last night I was back on the track in my Fastlane Racing Formula Ford. It was great to be back out there and get things back underway for the 2016 season.
The aim for last night was really to get a feel back in the car, and as such we used tyres from last year to save the testing on the new Yokohamas one of my next runs. The track was also extremely sandy, so that was bringing the grip levels down.
Given that, I felt confident in the car straight away, and was really pleased to be putting in consistent times from my first run which were within 2 or 3 tenths of my PB from last year.
It was also great in the week to visit the Motorsport Department of my new sponsor Edith Cowan University, to meet the team and have a close look at the cars and the work they do in development. It was all really interesting, and I am looking forward to spending more time in there picking up everything I can about the engineering and develop aspects of motor racing.
Signarama Joondalup are working on the new stickers for the car this year, so it won’t be long before I have ECU and some larger Kingsway Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank stickers on show!
