Three practice sessions today with the conditions fine and quite warm.
In Free Practice 1 we started with a set of used tyres and then switched mid session to another used set, but with less mileage on them. In the session I managed a best time of 54.1 which was P10 of the 16 car field, and yet only slightly more than 4 tenths of a second off the quickest time.
In FP2 we ran our first set of new tyres here which felt fantastic, with the team doing a great job on the set up of the car. By the end of this session we set a 53.8 for P8 which was only just over 2 tenths of a second off the quickest time for the session.
We started FP3 with some preparation work for the car tomorrow, and then switched to quite old tyres, with me having an issue with one of my tyres from the previous session. There was an interruption through a red flag, and then once we got going again I had a “moment” in turn 1 which ended in the sand trap.
Still, a good day on the new tyre runs and we are looking forward to tomorrow.
Weather forecast is very wet for the weekend, so great experience and really looking forward to getting qualifying and racing underway!
