FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
20 year old Calan Williams from Perth Western Australia has re-signed with Swiss-based team Jenzer Motorsport to compete for his second year in the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship.
With Jenzer Motorsport in the official FIA Formula 3 post-season testing during October in 2020, Calan performed exceptionally. In both of the 2-day tests at Barcelona and Jerez he was consistently in the top 3 of the 30 car field, and finished P2 in sessions at both venues, at Barcelona only 0.002 sec from the top spot.
"I'm really looking forward to competing another season with Jenzer, there was quite a few times where we showed the potential in 2020. We started our 2021 preparations at the recent tests in Barcelona and Jerez very strongly, so I'm looking forward to what we can achieve together."
"I've got to make sure I do everything I can to hit the ground running," he said.
"The first few races are so important. You want to run at the front, have some good performances and get some points on the board. That's huge not only for the driver's confidence, but the team as well.
Over the off-season break Calan has returned to Perth and has been working hard on his intensive mental and physical training program developed for him by the highly regarded Italian training centre Formula Medicine.
“I visited Formula Medicine in Italy for a week at the end of the 2020 season and completed a full assessment and commencement of the training that I am working on currently.”
“From the moment I met Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli and his team, it was clear that they are a world class operation, and I could immediately see why so many current and past Formula 1 and other professional racing drivers work with them.”
“I will be back in Italy with Formula Medicine early in the year, and I very much look forward to them being an integral part of my program moving forward.”
Jenzer Motorsport have made significant steps for the 2021 Championship investing in additional resources, personnel and equipment to put them at the front end of Formula 3.
“We had additional engineering support and expertise present with the team at our Jerez post-season test and the collaboration worked really well,” said Calan.
“There is a wealth of experience in the Jenzer team, and I really enjoyed working with my engineer through the 2020 Championship. To add to this now the further expertise is going to make it a very exciting environment to be a part of.”
"I believe this year is going to be a strong one, there's plenty of confidence and belief after the testing, but there is certainly no complacency and both myself and Jenzer are working hard to extract every fraction of performance that we can."
Calan returns to Switzerland to commence his European program with the team at the end of January.
