Calan Williams has delivered an outstanding start in the official FIA Formula 2 Pre-season testing in Bahrain finishing P2 in the evening session and overall for the day.
The day did not start as well however, as electrical issues with the car prevented him from completing a lap at all in the morning session.
The issue was rectified for the later session, and this only made Calan's performance all the more impressive without any running at all earlier.
At the end of the first hour, Calan commenced his first push runs on a new set of tyres and delivered a 1:44.973 in the first lap to sit at P5. With an hour to go he backed this up on his second new set of tyres to again sit at P5 and 4 tenths from the top.
With 10 mins to go, he set out for a run on a the softer tyre, and further improved to set a 1:42.59 to finish the session, and the overall times in an impressive P2.
Testing continues for the next 2 days.
