Another GT weekend brought another podium for Calan Williams in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup at the 3 Hours of Nurburgring.
Alongside teammates Niklas Krutten andJean-Baptiste Simmenauer, they secured hard fought podium at the Green Hell in the heart of Germany.
With that podium, Calan remains on top the GT WCE overall Gold Cup standings, a seat he shares alongside German youngster Niklas Krutten.
On a weekend where the WRT BMWs lacked the pace in the opening sessions, it took a stellar effort on the Sunday to find something extra.
“Considering where we started from, it’s a good result, we got more points and we’ll work hard to get second in the Endurance Gold Cup, we’ll see at Barcelona,” Williams said.
“Maybe today we could have finished second, we’ll debrief now to see what we could have done better, but it is still a good day.”
Earlier their combined runs saw them qualify fifth in class, and then in the 3 Hour feature the team brilliantly managed to guide their #30 BMW M4 GT3 onto the class podium, elevating themselves from overall 25th to P16 to make it two podiums from three Endurance outings.
The opening stint saw Simmenauer lift the #30 into P17 after just five laps before pitting in P13 after a strong opening.
Wiliams’ stint saw the Aussie youngster consolidate third spot, for Krutten to then bring it home.
The podium keeps them on top of the overall GT WCE standings in the Gold class with the added successes of Williams and Krutten in the Sprint Cup.
