Starting from P27 as a result of the DNF in Race 1, Calan was looking for a good start to the race to use the pace he had demonstrated over the weekend to move up through the field. He did exactly this, getting away well off the line and making up two positions through the opening corners.
Unfortunately ahead a driver left the circuit and rejoined in front of the field sending two cars directly in front of Calan into a spin. As a result he was unable to avoid a collision with the track effectively blocked and was subsequently also hit from the car immediately behind.
As a result Calan was forced to retire from the race.
The team now heads to Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend.
