DAY 1 AT CIRCUIT CHRIS AMON

Calan Williams races on Chris Amon Circuit

Productive day today on track with the first two practice sessions at Circuit Chris Amon in Manfeild. The circuit is very unique being quite flowing but also with slow tight corners and a lot of banking (camber) in many of the corners. The circuit is just over 3kms long, but all bunched in quite a small area, so spectators can get a view of literally the entire circuit.

There is a bit to get accustomed to here, so we ran all of this day on used tyres (as did the majority of the field I presume) for me to get me head around the circuit and for us to start to dial the car in. As we were the only category on track today, there was a lot of evolution of the track as it began to clean up.

My time was P8 for Practice 1, and though I found a further half a second in Practice 2, most found even more as the track improved. However, David and I have gathered a lot of areas for further improvement, so we are looking forward to putting these into practice tomorrow across the 3 practice sessions before the real stuff starts on the weekend.
