Calan’s support network can access an incredible motorsport experience during his race weekends, and in an environment that is perfectly suited to fostering business to business opportunities.
As a partner of Calan’s racing ambitions, this is what a race weekend at the elite level of GT racing and one of the world’s most famous circuits would look like.
1. Arrive at the circuit (Spa, Barcelona, Paul Ricard, Nürburgring, Monza etc) and avoid the public rush by driving straight to the circuit welcome centre. There you will find your personalised pack with your VIP car parking pass and wrist bands for the team hospitality building, team pit and garage access and for your grid walk immediately prior to the race.
2. Having parked your car in the special area close to the paddock you make your way to the team’s incredible hospitality building. WRT have a fantastic mobile facility that you can expect at each event, and you will be welcomed by friendly staff with incredible food and drinks throughout the duration of the event.
3. Having seen Calan, if you have arrived early enough in the program, he (and/or someone from CWR) will take you through the garage and show you the car up close. WRT is a big operation and team, and it is fascinating to watch all the work going on behind the scenes which is required to get a race-winning car on the track. The sense of teamwork and professionalism at this level is striking.
4. WRT offer guided tours of the garage, and while you are waiting for the action to start on track, you can take part in one of these and hear all about how every part of the team operates. You can also access almost anywhere in the circuit to look at the support categories racing on track, and soak in the atmosphere at these famous and historic tracks.
5. As Calan and the team prepare for qualifying, you can view from the garage how the elite prepare for peak performance under pressure. It will almost certainly surprise you the level of calm and confidence as all prepare for the moment. You can then watch the action from the stands or stay within the pit garage watching the screens and live timing and witness how the engineers work with the drivers and the mechanics go about their impressive work.
6. Lunch in the hospitality building is an experience. The food prepared by the team’s highly skilled chefs is amazing and you will be sharing this with drivers and team staff. Of course, Calan is the star of the show, but at this level you will also be with some of the best drivers in the world with Le Mans victories and other achievements under their belts. In 2023 9-time World Champion Valentino Rossi was also one of Calan’s teammates and obviously a crowd favourite!
7. Prior to the race, again you will experience at close quarters the preparation of Calan and the team. You will then head out onto the grid itself and walk through the cars to find Calan on the grid. Again, you will almost certainly be amazed at his calm and relaxed nature, and he will always spend time with his supporters in these moments regardless of whether he is starting the race or that is to be done by one of his co-drivers. Being on the grid for the first time, amongst the drivers and teams, looking down the straight toward turn 1 and glancing up to the huge crowd in the stand is an experience that you won’t forget.
8. During the race, once again you can choose to watch from the stands, or view from within the garage and see the team at work. From here you will see the excitement and skill of the team mechanics as they perform their incredible pit stops. This is fascinating as the team invariably are working to gain further positions through the pit stop window. Just make sure you stay out of the way of the tyres coming through from the tyre warming ovens!
9. In 2023, Calan’s supporters were treated to many highs. In the event of a podium or win, you will be able to join the celebrations under the podium with the team and other supporters and likely even feel a spray of champagne before heading back to the hospitality to debrief the day.
Of course, this is just a taste of the experience, and hopefully you can sense the comradery and emotion that comes through the event, particularly considering the longer events of 3, 6 or even 24 hours.
Across the event, you will have the opportunity to meet many of the other VIPs, or other partners of Calan, and form relationships which can create a perfect foundation for follow up and discussing potential business opportunities.
