Jon Collins competing alongside Calan at the pre-championship Wakefield event earlier this year
Errol Gilmour and Gilmour Racing continue to pull out all the stops to ensure Calan develops his skills and experience by securing 2015 Australian F3 Drivers Champion Jon Collins as Calan’s specialist Driver Coach for this weekend’s race at Sydney Motorsport Park. From Sydney himself, Sydney motorsport Park is a home track for Jon having completed countless laps there, and his knowledge of winning on this track in an F3 is second to none.
“I am very excited to have Jon working with me this weekend at Sydney. I know he is a gun at this track, and I can’t wait to hear the tips and advice he has to give me!” said Calan.
Calan first met Jon back in March 2015 when he was invited to join Gilmour Racing for a weekend to be a part of the F3 scene up close at Sandown, the year Jon won the Championship. This opportunity to spend time with the team, Jon and his inspirational team mate Luke Spalding was a significant boost for Calan then when he returned to Perth for his debut season of Formula Ford.
Calan then had the opportunity to be Jon’s team mate in his first F3 event at the beginning of this year as preparation prior to the commencement of the 2017 Australian F3 Premier Series.
With Calan and his Data/Race Engineer Scott Rogers as well as his Mechanic Callum Barker forming very strong working relationships, the addition of Jon as well as of course Errol himself means Calan has access to arguably one of the strongest development teams in the country.
